About Us
Our Mission
Lutheran Church of the Redeemer exists to welcome all people to Christ and equip them to praise God in life and worship
Our History
Lutheran Church of the Redeemer was founded by a small group of local Plattsburgh families in the autumn of 1958. The next year they called their first pastor and contracted with local Keeseville architect William Prescott. Ground was broken that year for our church building which is in the modern Adirondack style.
Originally associated with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, the congregation voted to join the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America after several years.
Over the years, the congregation has been active in the Interfaith Council of Clinton County, with its pastors serving as president at various times. Our church is a regular contributor to the Interfaith Food Shelf.

A Message From Our Pastor
Welcome to Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and our website! We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, which is a welcoming, compassionate, inclusive church. We try to live our lives both as a church and as individuals according to the grace afforded us by our Lord Jesus Christ in his ministry to us on his holy cross.
What is grace? It’s undeserved, unconditional love.
We acknowledge that no one is perfect, so we do not presume to stand in the judgment of others. We do our best to forgive each other when disagreements or misunderstandings arise within the church. Since our founding in 1958, Redeemer Church has taken a leadership role in the Interfaith Council of Clinton County, and we gladly contribute to its Food Shelf and participate in joint worship opportunities such as the Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service.
Our adult Christian education program strives to encourage people’s faith life by deepening their knowledge of the Bible, both the New and Old Testament. We invite people to share their opinions and encourage a healthy exchange of views and understandings. Our worship services blend contemporary music and traditional hymns and liturgy, and we celebrate Holy Communion every Sunday to reflect our devotion to Jesus and our ongoing, living relationship with him as his disciples.
I encourage you to visit us either in person or on Zoom.com – we worship live in the Sanctuary as well as virtually. You can find the Zoom link and call-in phone number at the top of our website. If you’re looking for fellowship, faith, and a friendly connection in a small church setting, Lutheran Church of the Redeemer may be the church home for you!
